Early Big 12 win total predictions: Are Oklahoma, Texas being slept on?

Big 12 win total predictions: Who is going bowling, but not to the New Year’s Six?
These four teams could be in the mix for mid-tier bowl games, but they are nowhere near consistent enough to catch fire and reach a New Year’s Six bowl under any realistic circumstances.
The West Virginia loss will keep Kansas State from achieving bowl eligibility
Having K-State at 5-7 feels wrong, but they are every bit a mid-tier team in the conference now. Plus, Adrian Martinez is taking over the offense, for better or worse. For Kansas State to be bowl eligible, it has to beat the teams it can. Losing to Iowa State in Farmageddon, at TCU and a bad one at West Virginia will be too much for Chris Klieman’s team to handle. Maybe next year, Wildcats…
Under 6.5 wins: 5-7 (2-7)
Sonny Dykes’ plan to own the metroplex will be set in motion after this season
There is a reason why Sonny Dykes left a good thing at SMU. He wants to take his plans of metroplex domination to the Power Five level. Should the Mustangs be Power Five? Sure, why not, especially in the Power Five era. As far as the Horned Frogs are concerned, this will be a great first year under Dykes. The win/loss column will not be impressive, but they are gonna pop in year two.
Under 6.5 wins: 6-6 (3-6)
It may be a pull back year for Iowa State, but does Matt Campbell get poached?
For as long as Matt Campbell stays in Ames, the Cyclones should be one of the four best programs in the Big 12, especially after Oklahoma and Texas leave. While Iowa State will pull back some this fall, the question remains if he is getting poached for a bigger gig this time. Losing to Baylor, Iowa, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas will have him seriously consider if it is time to leave Ames.
Over 6.5 wins: 7-5 (5-4)
Texas is not back, but Steve Sarkisian will make a huge leap in his second season
It is not going to be the quintessential pop season everybody was expecting, but Texas will be back (no, not THAT back) to Tom Herman levels in year two under Steve Sarkisian. Either Hudson Card or Quinn Ewers will take the conference by storm through the air. The defense will be an issue, but Texas will be a no-doubt bowl team with right around eight or nine wins. Playing Alabama sucks…
Under 8.5 wins: 8-4 (6-3)
Let’s take a look at the teams who need to get to a New Year’s Six bowl to avoid disappointment.
