Early Big 12 win total predictions: Are Oklahoma, Texas being slept on?
By John Buhler
Here are some way too early Big 12 win total predictions, including for Oklahoma and Texas.
The Big 12 should be one of the most fascinating leagues in the Power Five, top to bottom.
While all eyes are on Oklahoma and Texas in what may be their penultimate season in the conference, there are a few other programs that look to be here to stay. Baylor is not going away and Oklahoma State is coming off arguably its best season ever too with a thrilling Fiesta Bowl victory over Notre Dame. Who else could be challenging these teams for conference supremacy?
These win totals will be compared to the lines from WynnBET for over/under purposes.
Big 12 win total predictions: Which teams are going to have the best seasons?
Big 12 win total predictions: Which teams are not likely going to a bowl game?
These three teams are going to have a hard time finding conference wins on their schedules. Because of this, it is more likely than not they will be missing out on holiday season bowl games.
I would love nothing more than for Lance Leipold to prove everybody wrong
As badly as I would love to hit the over on two wins for Kansas, I cannot with great confidence pick a Big 12 team they are going to beat. It will not be Texas, but someone will fall to the Jayhawks. Lance Leipold will become KU’s version of Dave Clawson eventually, but these things do take time. At the very least, Kansas will push by beating Tennessee Tech and Duke to get to two victories.
Push 2.0 wins: 2-10 (0-9)
Joey McGuire will get things right in Lubbock, but these things do take time
I could be totally off-base here, but there will be a period of adjustment for Joey McGuire at Texas Tech. He may know all the high school coaches from his previous days in that world, but this is Big 12 football. The Red Raiders may have achieved bowl eligibility a year ago, but that group really played on emotion. They will beat West Virginia and Kansas, but that might be it for Texas Tech.
Under 5.5 wins: 3-9 (2-7)
JT Daniels be damned, no Big 12 coach’s seat is hotter than Neal Brown’s in 2022
Without debate, no head coach in the Big 12’s seat is hotter than Neal Brown’s. Although he does not have to win double-digit games like he did at Troy, the Mountaineers need to push for seven or eight wins for them to feel comfortable about him getting another year on the job. Even with JT Daniels coming over from Georgia, Big 12 wins will be hard to come by. WVU may win four in total.
Under 5.5 wins: 4-8 (3-6)
Let’s take a look at teams who are probably going to a bowl game, but not to the New Year’s Six.
