1 – S Deon Bush

Deon Bush, much like Gordon and Baker before him, has potentially lost his spot on the roster with the Chiefs drafting of a younger, more exciting player. In Bush’s case, its Cincinnati safety Bryan Cook who Kansas City selected in the second round of the 2022 draft.

Cook is just 22 years old and not only has Bush beat in age, but athleticism and physicality as well. He is a speedy, versatile defender who the Chiefs are hoping can take the field and play at a high level in short order come the regular season.

Bush, 28, just wrapped up his sixth NFL season – all with the Bears – before reaching free agency and latching on with the Chiefs on a cheap, one-year contract. He only started four games for the Bears last year, his first starts since 2018 when he started in just two contests for Chicago.

Bush was primarily utilized on special teams with the Bears and likely does not have much of a role anymore within the Chiefs organization. All signs are pointing to a very brief tenure in Kansas City for Bush, in favor of exciting youngster Bryan Cook.
