2. Is Jalen Carter truly ready to be that guy along the Georgia defensive line?

No doubt about it, Georgia lost A TON off its national championship-winning defense. The good news is several key players from that unit are returning to Athens for at least one more year. While he will have plenty of great players around him, Robert Beal, Kelee Ringo, Christopher Smith and Nolan Smith to name a few, is Jalen Carter truly ready to be that guy on the Dawgs’ defensive line?

Everybody and their brother was clamoring Carter was the most talented player in the trenches for Georgia last year, not unanimous All-American Jordan Davis, not first-rounders Quay Walker and Devonte Wyatt, not even No. 1 overall pick Travon Walker. Carter is the guy everybody was raving about. If he plays up to great expectations, he will be a top-five pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

There is insurmountable pressure on Carter to lead the defense, but he cannot do this on his own.

1. How well will Stetson Bennett IV play now that he is the unquestioned starter?

And look at this? Look at how nice this is! For the first time since high school, Stetson Bennett IV does not have to worry about his job as the starting quarterback. The man has become a living legend in the Classic City for his role in slaying the Alabama dragon last January. He may not have much, if any, NFL future, but for the time being, the Dawgs are in good shape with “The Mailman”.

Conversely, Carson Beck could push for playing time as a backup too good to probably stay at Georgia for all that much longer. Brock Vandagriff is the most talented guy in the quarterback room from up the road, while Gunner Stockton certainly turned heads when he played for Rabun. The big question for “The Mailman” is if he is ready for all the other Dawgs to be chasing him now.

If Georgia is to repeat as national champs, Bennett has to play at an all-conference level this fall.
