2. Indianapolis Colts

Sure, there are teams in need of wide receiver help such as the Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons, but they are not in a position to trade away much needed draft capital. They need those to bolster their rosters, as they are not playoff contenders. That is why we list the Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts have tried and tried with one-year fliers on quarterbacks such as Phillip Rivers and Carson Wentz to replace Andrew Luck. This time, they made the move to acquire former NFL MVP Matt Ryan from the Falcons. This was an obvious win-now move, and considering he is under contract for the next two seasons, the Colts needed to bring in some wide receiver help.

Indianapolis’ receiving corps has Michael Pittman Jr. leading the way. The rest of the starting depth chart consists of Parris Campell and second-round pick Alec Pierce. Adding McLaurin would do wonders for the Colts, as they would not have to rely so heavily on running back Jonathan Taylor.

1. Green Bay Packers

Perhaps no one’s wide receiver corps was hit harder this offseason than that of the Green Bay Packers.

The team was unable to reach an agreement with Davante Adams on a contract extension, so they traded him to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for their 2022 first- and second-round picks. Green Bay also lost Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown to free agency.

It is not as though the team did not do anything to add to their receivers room. They signed veteran Sammy Watkins to a one-year contract and selected North Dakota State’s Christian Watson in the second-round of the draft. But, they could have done a bit more, especially with quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ days in the NFL numbered, as he has openly said that he thinks about retirement.

With the AFC set to be a true battlefield to make it to the Super Bowl, the Packers have a much easier path to the playoffs. Bringing in McLaurin would have helped them tremendously in making their first trip to the big game in over 10 years.
