2. Former Red Sox pitcher Brad Peacock is struggling in 2022.

Brad Peacock was never an elite prospect, nor a highly-touted arm in the Washington Nationals farm system. But it’s a good bet that a majority of baseball fans have heard his name. Peacock was a former 41st-round pick back in 2006, and the right-hander has put together a rather remarkable career for someone with that type of background.

However, the 2022 season hasn’t been too kind to the former Red Sox pitcher. Peacock, who won a World Series title with the Houston Astros in 2017, is currently at Triple-A Omaha, a minor league affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.

Cleveland signed Peacock to a minor league pact prior to the 2021 season, but he never made an appearance in the majors. The Boston Red Sox swung a trade for the veteran last August and then immediately selected his contract. Peacock got the start versus the Tampa Bay Rays, but lasted just 2.1 innings.

Brad Peacock made a relief appearance one week later against that same Rays team, but allowed four earned runs over the final three innings of the ball game. Peacock elected free agency over the winter and has been toiling away in the minors this season. We’ll have to wait and see if the right-hander receives a call to the majors in 2022.
