It was a good thing the Atlanta Braves let these players go in the last year. Here are three 2021 Atlanta Braves struggling elsewhere in 2022.

The 2021 Atlanta Braves won the World Series and, with the exception of Freddie Freeman, the core of the team is still with Atlanta and still playing well. After all, they are 43-32 through the first 75 games of the season and they’re on pace for a 93-69 record.

But there are some players that were on the World Series Champion team that the Braves moved on from that are failing miserably elsewhere in 2022.

Outfielder Cristian Pache (Oakland A’s)

Cristian Pache has all but proven that he is a huge bust. Entering the 2021 season, Pache was ranked as the #12 overall prospect, according to MLB.com but he has been awful at the plate for the worst team in baseball: The Oakland A’s. That’s part of the reason why the Braves traded him to Oakland in the Matt Olson trade.

Pache has played in 67 games with Oakland in 2022 and he is hitting .162/.206/.227 with two home runs, 13 RBI, and five doubles. His OPS+ is only 28, or 72 percent below league average.

Even with his great defense (4 Defensive Runs Saved, or DRS), Pache still has -0.7 rWAR. 0.0 rWAR is the level of a Triple-A player. In other words, he is playing at a Triple-A level.

He will still get plenty of playing time with the A’s since they are the worst team in baseball and want to see if he can turn things around but his numbers have been even worse recently. In the month of June, he is hitting .128/.180/.170 in 19 games.
