A protestor interrupted the 2022 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest, and was immediately put in a chokehold by Joey Chestnut.
Joey Chestnut has dominated the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, winning 14 titles in the previous 15 years. En route to his 15th mustard championship belt, he had to overcome an injury and an interruption by a protestor.
In the early portion of the 2022 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest, Chestnut was shoved out of the way by an individual wearing a Darth Vader mask and held a sign. Chestnut did not hesitate, as he put this person in a chokehold and threw them backwards.

Threw the individual out of frame and continued to consume hot dogs.
After dealing with the interrupter, Chestnut continued to coast to a 2022 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest victory. Chestnut ate 63 hot dogs to claim the mustard title for the 15th time of his career, which is now the most championships won at a single event. It now edges out Rafael Nadal’s 14 French Open titles.
Chestnut accomplished this latest feat while dealing with a ruptured tendon in his leg, which is why he was spotted with crutches heading into the event.
Finishing in second place behind Chestnut was Geoffrey Esper, who ate 47.5 hot dogs.
Chestnut has not lost at this event since 2015, where he was bested 62-60 by Matt Stonie.
Nothing was stopping Chestnut from winning his 15th Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest. Not a ruptured tendon. Not a protestor. Nothing.
