Red Sox pitching trade targets Chaim Bloom must land at all costs

Boston must be aggressive with trading for Carlos Rodon
The San Francisco Giants might be selling after all. And if they do, Carlos Rodon is a sure bet to get dealt.
It looks like a wise signing by the Giants to bring the lefty in this season. What wasn’t so smart was believing they had enough talent around him to make the most of his one-year contract. Rodon had a fantastic 2021 season but made only 24 starts. This didn’t prevent him from finishing fifth in the Cy Young vote.
Rodon could blast through many of his other previous career-highs from his days with the Chicago White Sox that include the 13 wins from last season and the 165 innings he tossed back in 2016. Rodon, more so than Castillo, is a guy many will believe could just get better. He’s kind of like Zack Wheeler in that way. When he left the New York Mets and signed up with the Philadelphia Phillies, he was officially in bloom.
Rodon would be a huge addition for the Red Sox. He’s a guy no one expected would be available only a few weeks ago. However, with the Giants now out of a wild card spot and with zero chance at capturing the division, Rodon has become everybody’s favorite starting pitcher trade target.
Knowing this, Boston needs to strike before the rival Toronto Blue Jays do.
