With news that the Jazz are willing to trade Donovan Mitchell a world of trade possibilities have opened, including a hypothetical Collin Sexton deal.

In the immediate aftermath of the Rudy Gobert trade, the Utah Jazz were reported to be standing pat and preparing to build around Donovan Mitchell. However, Adrian Wojnarowski’s reporting earlier this week that the Jazz were open to offers on Mitchell has changed everything.

Trading Mitchell wouldn’t just be a singular chaotic act, it would send ripples elsewhere. Right now the Jazz have a veteran-laden roster and a pivot towards a full rebuild means players like Mike Conley, Bojan Bogdanovic, Jordan Clarkson and other could be available.

Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer is reporting that the Jazz have already looked into options for trading Conley, including a hypothetical deal that would send him the Cleveland Cavaliers for Collin Sexton.

"Utah has explored a sign-and-trade scenario that would send veteran point guard Mike Conley to Cleveland in exchange for restricted free agent Collin Sexton, sources said. The Cavaliers wouldn’t appear to have a need for an additional point guard, and it seems unlikely that Conley would be the returning player Cleveland would prioritize if talks ever gained legitimate traction."

What could a Utah Jazz trade for Collin Sexton look like?

The rest of that paragraph makes this deal sound unlikely and, honestly, a cheaper wing-creator like Clarkson probably makes more sense for the Cavs, considering they have Darius Garland and already signed Ricky Rubio this offseason. I did suggest a version of this trade in The Whiteboard yesterday, but it had Conley routed to the Bulls, Sexton going to the Jazz and Mitchell ending up with the Cavs, along with a lot of other moving parts.

Still, what looked to be a trade market that had winnowed down to Kevin Durant is now wide open with Mitchell, Conley, Clarkson, Bogdanovic, Rudy Gay, Patrick Beverley and Malik Beasley potentially coming available.
