Juan Soto rumors: Mets could trade SS Ronny Mauricio

Ronny Mauricio is the Mets’ No. 3 prospect and MLB.com’s No. 52 overall prospect. Like Brett Baty, Mauricio is in Double-A Binghamton and he is doing very well.

Mauricio, 21, has struggled a bit for average (.247) and on-base percentage (.281) but he is hitting for a lot of power (.477 slugging percentage). He has 16 home runs, 54 RBI, and 19 doubles. He also has some speed as he has 11 stolen bases.

On a 20-80 scouting scale, his power and throwing arm are his strongest assets (60). His speed (which has gotten better, as shown by his stolen bases) and hit tools are the weakest (45).

If he keeps progressing well, Mauricio would be blocked by Francisco Lindor at the MLB level so the Mets would either have to move him off of shortstop or trade him. With the Nationals, he could easily be their Opening Day shortstop next season.
