Cardinals untouchable prospect: Masyn Winn

In a season in which the position of shortstop has been in flux, it’s nice to know the Cards do have a prospect in the system that will assuredly reach the majors. Masyn Winn showed out in this weekend’s Future’s Game:

Winn did request to wear the No. 1 in the Futures Game to be “Like Ozzie.” He may have won himself untouchable status with the fan base for saying that, alone.

Winn has worked as a pitcher before and with the speed on such a routine play, it would be interesting to see if he does become a two-way player. He hasn’t pitched for the Cardinals organization since 2019.

Winn, 20, was the second-round draft pick in the 2020 Amateur Draft for the Cardinals. The Cardinals appear to have drafted really well in 2020. He’s hitting .260/.335/.432 with an OPS of .767. He has 11 doubles, six homers, and 24 RBI for Springfield.

Winn is a real talent and should be a player the Cardinals are protecting at all costs as he would be a beloved talent for this organization.
