4 teams that should trade for A’s outfielder Ramon Laureano

1) Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins are on the fringes of the playoff picture since they are 45-50 on the season but they would be able to use him in their outfield for the next two seasons, especially since they already have some great starting pitching.

Currently, left fielder Jorge Soler (95 OPS+) is on the IL, center fielder Jesus Sanchez has an OPS+ of 80, and right fielder Avisail Garcia (who signed a four-year deal this past offseason) has an OPS+ of 66. Their outfield wRC+ is 84, which is 26th in baseball.

Laureano is also from the Dominican Republic so, culturally, it could be a great fit for Laureano, Miami, and their fans.

2) San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres are one of a few teams that have expressed interest in Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto. He would be a huge boost for their lineup but even if they get Soto, they should still trade for Ramon Laureano.

In right field, Wil Myers has been injured for much of the season. Nomar Mazara has been a decent replacement in right field but in center, Trent Grisham has hit .190 with a sub-.300 on-base percentage. Left fielder Jurickson Profar has been good defensively but he has struggled at the plate recently (.174 average, .534 OPS in his last 19 games).

Overall, their outfielders have a wRC+ of 87, which is 25th in baseball. Laureano would be best defensively in right field but he could still patrol center field for the Padres, as he has full-time with the A’s in recent years and on a part-time basis in 2022.
