Yankees Rumors: 3 trade chips New York can turn into trade deadline steals

New York Yankees trade target on the Marlins: Anthony Bass
Trading for Anthony Bass won’t thrill too many people but acquiring this veteran righty could be necessary with Michael King out. The Yankees bullpen has been mostly productive when healthy.
The problem is health.
Bass is having a career year with the Marlins this year. He is 2-3 with a 1.48 ERA in 42.2 innings of work. The 34-year-old now in his 11th big league season is now the owner of a lifetime 4.00 ERA. A very average career seems to have taken off this season for an even more average team.
Bass shouldn’t cost a ton. Signed through next year for a $3 million team option or $1 million buyout, he’s someone the Yankees could look at as a possible reunion candidate, too.
Since 2018, Bass has looked like a much different pitcher than he did earlier on in his career. As a member of four different ball clubs, he has combined to toss a 3.12 ERA in 193 innings of work. He has a 1.10 WHIP during this time which is even lower during the ongoing career-year he is having for Miami.
Is Bass the flashiest bullpen addition the Yankees could make? Absolutely not. But given how very available he is and what he has been doing all year long, he’d be worth a reasonable price.
