3) Braves outfielder Guillermo Heredia

Much like last season, the Atlanta Braves need some offense in the outfield. A healthy Ronald Acuña Jr. helps matters since he wasn’t healthy last season, but with Marcell Ozuna struggling at the plate and Adam Duvall on the injured list for the rest of the season, the Braves need some upgrades in the outfield and at DH.

Heredia is a good defensive outfielder (3 Defensive Runs Saved) but at the plate, he has left a lot to be desired. In 46 games (69 plate appearances), Heredia has hit .127/.203/.333 with an OPS+ of 45.

If the Braves acquire a big bat for left field and/or a DH at the deadline, Marcell Ozuna and Eddie Rosario would likely be on the bench. The Braves don’t need three outfielders on their bench. Considering what Ozuna and Rosario are getting paid (the second year of a four-year deal for $65 million and a two-year deal for $18 million), they will be on the bench and not Heredia.

Heredia also has one minor league option remaining, so they could keep him in the minor leagues for depth.
