2) First baseman/DH Frank Schwindel

Frank Schwindel was great once he joined the Cubs in 2021. In 56 games in 2021, he hit .342/.389/.613 with an OPS+ of 165 so it was easy to see why they gave him the Opening Day nod at first base in 2022.

However, the 30-year-old has had an awful sophomore season in the majors. In 69 games, Schwindel has hit .233/.279/.372 with eight home runs, 35 RBI, and 11 doubles. His OPS+ in that span is 81, or less than half of what it was in 2021.

Defensively, he has been below league average as well (-2 DRS). Overall, he has a -0.9 WAR, which is the worst among all players on the Cubs this season. Especially with his age, he isn’t going to be part of the team’s long-term plans so they should let someone else take Schwindel’s playing time and see if they could be part of the club’s future plans.
