2) Minnesota Twins missed on Luis Castillo

The Twins are in first place in the AL Central, despite having the sixth-best record in the American League. One of their big issues is their starting rotation.

In the month of July, they have a 6.15 ERA, which is 28th in baseball in that span. Overall on the season, their starters have an ERA of 4.06, which is 16th in the sport. Their top innings eater is Dylan Bundy, who has an ERA of 5.02 on the season. In his last three starts, he has an ERA of 7.53 so he’s not getting any better either.

In reality, the Twins don’t have as good of a farm system as the Mariners (or as the Mariners did before the trade) so they may not have had the prospects to get Castillo. However, the Twins desperately need an ace like Castillo at the top of their rotation.

If the Twins don’t address their rotation, they risk giving the division up to the Guardians or White Sox, who are both right on the Twins’ heels.
