2) MLB rumors: A monster St. Louis Cardinals trade package for Shohei Ohtani

There have been plenty of MLB rumors about the St. Louis Cardinals and Soto over the last few weeks. With Ohtani now in the fray, they could always shift to him and look to fix their rotation,  but the could also add a better bat to the lineup.

What could the Cardinals give up to land him?

The full trade would include big leaguer Nolan Gorman, Jordan Walker, Matthew Liberatore, Ivan Herrera, and Gordon Graceffo going to the Angels for Ohtani. It’s a much different trade than the one outlined previously with the Padres.

Gorman is the only player in this monster trade package that has played enough to no longer be considered a prospect. The rest are highly ranked within the St. Louis system.

The Cardinals would be selling Walker (1), Liberatore (2), Herrera (3), and Graceffo (5). All four are considered top 100 prospects. They would be able to hang onto shortstop Masyn Winn in this deal.

This could be satisfying enough for St. Louis with maybe another smaller piece added in. If they insist Winn is included, Walker should stay with the Cardinals. He is already the sixth-ranked prospect in all of baseball. The Angels are getting a lot for a guy the Cardinals would have to negotiate a contract with.
