2. The Yankees are able to trade Aroldis Chapman

Like Gallo, Aroldis Chapman is a veteran that isn’t pulling his weight. However, he had a much more successful tenure with the club. Like Gallo, Chapman is also a free agent at the end of the season and the Yankees won’t be re-signing him.

On the season, Chapman has appeared in 26 games and he has an ERA of 5.48. His 5.61 FIP suggests that he has actually had some good luck with that ERA, though. His WHIP is at a career-high (1.594) as is his hit rate (7.2 H/9), his home run rate (1.7 HR/9), and his walk rate (7.2 BB/9). His strikeout rate is also at a career-low (10.5 K/9).

He likely won’t be able to get on a playoff contender but there might be some team that is out of it that is willing to give him a look and try to boost his value before free agency this offseason.
