Dodgers: 3 trade targets after missing out on Luis Castillo
By Drew Koch
3. The Dodgers should target Pirates LHP Jose Quintana.
If the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking for the cheaper alternative to Luis Castillo, perhaps they need to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a call. Jose Quintana has been dominant all season and has been drawing a lot of trade interest from around the league.
Quintana is not going get you a boatload of strikeouts, but he will get you a boatload of outs. Quintana has fewer punch outs that innings pitched in 2022, but he’s been successful in his age 33 season with a 3.70 ERA.
Quintana has played for five different organizations throughout his major league career and changed addresses during both the 2017 and 2021 seasons.
Oddly enough, Quintana went from the Chicago White Sox to the Chicago Cubs in 2017 and the Los Angeles Angels to the San Francisco Giants last season. If he has to stay in state does that mean Quintana is destined to join the Philadelphia Phillies?
The Dodgers will surely check in on Jose Quintana at the deadline. With only a $2M salary in 2022, his presence on the roster wouldn’t greatly affect the payroll. Quintana will also not command the type of prospect capital it would take to land the aforementioned Tyler Mahle and Frankie Montas.
