Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa is out for health issues, and it’s unclear how long he will be out or exactly what’s going on.
Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa is out with health issues, and it’s unclear how long he will be out or exactly what’s going on. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, sources with direct knowledge of the situation reported he is undergoing tests on his heart.
It’s unknown when La Russa will be back. In the meantime, bench coach Miguel Cairo is serving as the interim manager.
The situation began when La Russa had tests done by a cardiologist in Chicago, and it was recommended that he miss Tuesday’s game. It was then further advised after more testing that he see heart specialists.
The news is certainly sad to many, and fans are taking to Twitter their sympathy for the oldest manager in MLB.

Fans are outpouring love and support for La Russa. One fan stated that we should officially be worried (rightfully so).
Shane Riordan of 670 The Score is keeping fans in check, stating to not rejoice over the absence considering how serious the situation is.
Another fan is speculating what could’ve happened and acknowledging that it’s a scary situation regardless.

Despite how people feel about La Russa’s managing, the situation is one to be concerned about and not to be taken lightly. Hopefully we will see him back in the dugout soon, and at full strength.
