1) Yankees can only wait out their current injuries and plan for when guys get healthy

Problems sometimes fix themselves. With the Yankees, many of their roster issues will be rectified once players come back from the IL.

The bullpen has held strong despite the absence of some important pieces. It’s the offense that is scuffling and trying to produce.

The team is without Anthony Rizzo and Andrew Benintendi right now—two left-handed hitters they were hoping to depend on down the stretch. Matt Carpenter has been gone for about a month now and they have yet to see Harrison Bader take the field. Add Rizzo, Benintendi, and Bader back onto the Yankees roster and things are looking up.

Unfortunately, not even a Steinbrenner can pay to have players come back quicker from injury than they can. This is a team right now that can only win by pitching well and hoping Aaron Judge hits a three-run home run; maybe two.

The best roster move the Yankees can make right now is to wait patiently. It’s not the cavalry but old friends who will eventually return. To avoid a monumental collapse, they might not want to hurry up.

Those pesky Tampa Bay Rays have the American League East title within sight. The time to act is now. Let’s see what Aaron Boone can get from the team.
