10 WR sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 1
By Jakob Ashlin
Let’s break down 10 WR sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 1.
With Week 1 of the NFL season officially underway, let’s take a look at the ten wide receiver sleepers to target in fantasy football leagues.
10. Week 1 Fantasy Football WR sleepers: Devin Duvernay, Baltimore Ravens
Rostered: 2.3%
Coming out of college, Devin Duvernay showcased all the traits to become an elite NFL wide receiver. He has top-level speed, putting up a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the combine. He also had, perhaps, the best hands in his draft class. “I don’t think I have (seen him drop a pass),” former Texas head coach Tom Herman said. “I literally can’t remember when I’ve seen one.”
After playing a limited role behind veterans like Willie Snead IV and Sammy Watkins in his first two NFL seasons, Duvernay is now projected to be the starting slot wide receiver in the Ravens’ offense. With Marquise Brown in Arizona, he will face limited competition for targets. On paper, he is a prime breakout candidate, and he will kick off the season with an excellent fantasy matchup against the New York Jets. The Jets gave up the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers last season.
9. Week 1 Fantasy Football WR sleepers: Olamide Zaccheaus, Atlanta Falcons
Rostered: 0.2%
There is a chance that Olamide Zaccheaus will serve as the Falcons’ top wideout on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Calvin Ridley will be serving his suspension, while rookie Drake London is listed as questionable. London was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice.
If London does not play, Zaccheaus is an excellent option in deeper leagues due to his startling low rostered percentage.
