3) Reason the Mets will win the World Series: The Buck Showalter factor

Buck Showalter has completely changed the vibe around the Mets in 2022. He took over from rookie manager Luis Rojas whose two seasons with the ball club felt like the inmates were running the asylum.

Showalter has been everything Mets fans could have dreamed he’d be. He’s smart, wise, and has complete control over the situation. Sure, the front office has a lot of input. But we have regularly seen throughout the year how Showalter asks for something different out of his ball club.

The Amazins have managed to get into the final weeks of the regular season without any bogus distractions. Lindor and McNeil aren’t getting into fights in the tunnel. Nobody is giving a thumbs down to the fans. Players aren’t more concerned about their next contract than winning a championship this season. In a year where there were openings for some controversy, this team has steered clear of those LOLMets moments. What’s so different? It’s Showalter.

As great as some of the pickups the Mets made in the offseason were, none was as good as the decision to hire Showalter. All that’s missing from his resume is a World Series win. The players have fully bought into his system. You better believe those players want to win one for their skipper, too.
