What will the next phase of the San Francisco Giants universe look like? The team bought into what they did in 2021 and came back with a similarly built club for the 2022 campaign. It didn’t work out so well.
The Giants could be headed toward a major offseason. There are a couple of veterans on the payroll they could certainly let walk away as they take aim at players like Aaron Judge.
These three notable Giants players stand out as ones the team should move on from. Where will they sign instead?
1) Giants free agent prediction: Joc Pederson will sign with the Rangers
Watch out for the Texas Rangers to be a sneaky team to make huge splashes in free agency this winter. While Joc Pederson might not exactly fit in as a huge deal compared to some other signings, the Rangers could definitely use a major boost at the position.
Pederson offers the Rangers a legitimate left fielder—something they didn’t have much of in 2022. He could also be a DH candidate or even a guy to take over multiple innings at the other two outfield positions. While it’s pitching Texas needs most, an affordable bat with experience like Pederson also fits well with their needs.
It would be a reunion with Pederson and Corey Seager in Texas. One notable difference between them: Pederson won back-to-back World Series. He did so with Seager in 2020 as members of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2021, Pederson added another ring with the Atlanta Braves.
A legitimate outfielder who won’t break the bank like Pederson makes too much sense for the Rangers to pass on.
