Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 4: No. 16-15

16. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

After suffering their first loss of the season last week to Clemson, Sam Hartman and the Demon Deacons had to best an undefeated Florida State squad to keep their ranking. They answered the call.

Wake Forest took control in the second quarter and outpaced the Seminoles from there en route to a 31-21 victory. There was always a potential for a letdown this week but they avoided that fate to keep their hopes in the ACC title race alive.

15. NC State Wolfpack

NC State discovered what Wake Forest had to come to terms with last week: Clemson may look beatable but there’s a big difference between threatening to upset them and actually upsetting them.

The Wolfpack had chances. They held a first-half lead and stayed within touching distance in the second half. They just couldn’t get through the Tiger defense to the endzone to put real pressure on Clemson when they needed to.

Considering how tough they played Clemson, they shouldn’t drop too far.
