Second, Dansby Swanson is ready for a payday

The Atlanta Braves shortstop is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the season, and the 28-year-old former overall No. 1 pick showed against the Mets exactly why he’s due for a big payday in the offseason.

Swanson went 4-for-11 in the three-game set, blasting a home run in each game and making some Braves history in the process.

Swanson wasn’t the only Braves player to smack three homers against the Mets as Matt Olson joined in the slugfest as well. Between Olson and Swanson, more Braves history was made.

The home runs came at the right time for Swanson, who entered the series slashing just .224/.257/.383 in 25 September games (107 at-bats). However, by shining bright in one of the biggest matchups of the season, Swanson has likely ensured a big check before the 2023 season begins, whether that’s with Atlanta or another team.
