Broncos Javonte Williams replacements: Jerry Jeudy, WR

Admittedly, this is somewhat tied to Russell Wilson being better but it mostly underscores the fact that Denver’s passing game simply has to be more versatile and effective than it has been to this point. And Jerry Jeudy bein ghe player many were hoping he’d be coming into the year.

Courtland Sutton has been absolutely phenomenal to this point in the year as he’s caught 24 of his 35 targets for 343 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Jeudy has fewer targets (21) than Sutton has receptions on the season and has caught just 11 of those balls for 183 yards, though he does have two touchdowns on the season.

Part of what we’ve seen from Jeudy to this point has been due to being hampered by a variety of minor injuries, to be sure. At the ame time, however, Jeudy just hasn’t made himself the factor that he should be based on his talent, something that his just-over-50-percent catch rate magnifies further.

Williams’ value to this offense extended to the passing offense as he was an elite checkdown option with 16 receptions on 22 targets through four games. That’s going to put the onus on Jeudy to not just be a better and more consistent target but to still provide the big-play ability that could make him special.
