Broncos Javonte Williams replacements: Melvin Gordon III, RB

This comes with a big caveat that Melvin Gordon III showed up on the Monday injury report as questionable with a minor neck ailment. Having said that, in a next-man-up league like the NFL, the Broncos are in as good of a position to replace losing their starting running back due to an injury with Gordon still on the roster.

While Gordon is a more than familiar face, though, that might not be a great thing for Denver fans given what he’s looked like so far this season.

Again making sure to remember his current injury, Gordon had just three carries for eight yards in the loss to Vegas. But his season overall to this point has been far from impressive either with 37 carries for only 139 yards and a touchdown, averaging a mere 3.8 yards per carry. Moreover, he’s turned just eight receptions (on 10 targets) into only 49 yards receiving.

Gordon has been in the league for quite some time and as recently as last year proved he can be productive with a heavy workload. With Williams out this season, the veteran needs to be that guy who is efficient both in the rushing and passing attacks while also having the advantage of someone like Mike Boone spelling him when he needs a break.
