Running back sleepers for fantasy football Week 5: Sony Michel, Los Angeles Chargers

Sony Michel has played well behind Austin Ekeler, but it’s clear that he’s the surefire number-two back for this team. Even as the backup, he’s totaled 27 touches through four weeks, including a few catches. It’s clear the Chargers would like to spell Ekeler often to keep him fresh.

Michel is not by any means a good fantasy start this week, but if you’re looking for a sleeper option who gets a little under seven touches a game, including some goal-line work, Michel can be a sneaky play, especially against a mediocre Cleveland run defense.

Running back sleepers for fantasy football Week 5: Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs

I knew it’d only be a matter of time before I’d be including Isiah Pacheco in a sleeper article. I think the time has finally come. Last week, Pacheco still played well behind Clyde Edwards-Helaire, but he rushed 11 times for 63 yards and looked really good doing it. It’s only a matter of time until his role grows.

Pacheco is still fighting with Jerick McKinnon for snaps, but it’s Pacheco who gets the ball more than McKinnon, who he’s out-touched 28-23. In this week’s matchup against the Raiders, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chiefs began to make the rookie runner a more regular part of their game plan. He’s an intriguing option this week.
