The Bills have an elite offense, but the one position they’re lacking is at running back. Devin Singletary is fine, and James Cook could one day be the two-way threat Buffalo was looking for when they drafted him out of Georgia. But right now, neither compares to the talent of McCaffrey.
A backfield featuring Josh Allen and McCaffrey would immediately be the best in all of football, and would provide Sean McDermott and Co. another pawn to use in their offensive system. And we thought this offense was the most explosive in the NFL right now? Just imagine adding a player like McCaffrey, who a year ago was one of the consensus top running backs in football. If he can stay healthy — which remains a big if — he instantly cements the Bills as Super Bowl favorites over the likes of the Chiefs and any NFC contender.
It should only help matters that the Bills have several Carolina connections to make McCaffrey more comfortable upon arrival. Ken Dorsey, Joe Brady and Mike Shula all have experience with McCaffrey in Carolina. They’ll know how to implement him successfully right away.
