3. Top Fantasy Football Pickups For Week 7 – Indianapolis Colts RB Deon Jackson

We mentioned Jackson last week as a strong pickup after his solid performance in relief of the injured Taylor and Nyheim Hines on Thursday Night Football in Denver. Both top backs sat out of this contest for the Colts with injuries, leaving Jackson as the top dog in a plus matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars and their porous run defense.

Jackson dominated the Jaguars on the afternoon, carrying 12 times for 42 yards and a touchdown while adding 10 catches on 10 targets for another 79 yards. A late quad injury was the only thing that could slow Jackson down as he demonstrated both solid burst out of the backfield and excellent hands as a pass catcher.

This is a pure handcuff situation for fantasy owners, particularly those who drafted Taylor with the top pick in their draft, but Jackson has now demonstrated that he can be a plug-and-play RB1 if he’s getting the bulk of the backfield work. The quad injury is a cause for concern but if Jackson is cleared he should be a must-add for Taylor owners at a minimum.

There was a big surge for Jackson this week, who is now rostered in 43 percent of Yahoo leagues, but the immediate opportunities could be limited if Taylor is able to return to action in Week 7 after getting in a pair of limited practices last week. Jackson is a worthy bench stash if you have the roster space to hide him in the event Taylor suffers a setback.
