Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud had a down game against the Iowa Hawkeyes, but was that enough for him to fall down the Heisman rankings?

The eighth week of the college football season featured some big games, such as No. 5 Clemson’s comeback win over No. 14 Syracuse and No. 10 Oregon defeating No. 9 UCLA to continue their winning streak since their season-opening loss to Georgia.

In terms of the Heisman Trophy competition, C.J. Stroud had a bit of a rough outing against the Iowa Hawkeyes early on, before helping the team win 45-10. Meanwhile, Hendon Hooker had an easy day at the office against UT Martin. But one name that has caught the attention of college football fans (and especially Auburn fans) is Oregon quarterback Bo Nix following his tremendous performance against UCLA.

So, how does that effect the Heisman trophy power rankings? Well, take a look at our Heisman rankings.

Heisman Trophy Power Rankings, Week 8 edition

836. . . Previous: . Dorian Thompson-Robinson. 10. player

Dorion Thompson-Robinson was on a roll this season, having solid showings in back-to-back weeks against ranked teams in Washington and Utah. His play was a major factor in the team being undefeated on the season.

But in Week 8, Thompson-Robinson fell back down to Earth a bit when he faced the No. 10 Oregon Ducks.

Facing the Ducks, Thompson-Robinson completed 27-of-39 pass attempts for 262 yards and two touchdowns, while throwing one interception. The senior quarterback also ran for 38 yards on eight carries.

This was the first time in three weeks that Thompson-Robinson had a completion percentage below 70.0.

UCLA and Thompson-Robinson will look to get back in the win column next week against the Stanford Cardinal.

807. . . Previous: . Chase Brown. 9. player

How do you raise up the rankings without playing this week? Well, there was Thompson-Robinson dropping to 10th, while a new name being added to the list.

Chase Brown climbs up the ranking by one in Week 8. Brown has been unbelievable this season, as he has played a role in the team starting off 6-1. He rushed for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns on 192 carries. He has run for over 100 yards in all seven games that he has played in 2022.

Brown could increase his Heisman stock with a strong showing against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Week 9.
