College football power rankings: Which of the 6 remaining undefeated teams is superior?
By John Buhler
Georgia is the reigning national champions and has blown out two top 25 teams
Of course, the top Dawgs are Georgia. And to be frank, this shouldn’t even really be a debate. The reigning national champions are 7-0 with two of the most impressive victories on the season up to this point: The 49-3 drubbing of Oregon in Atlanta and the 48-7 pantsing of South Carolina in Columbia. Oregon and South Carolina have not lost since. They are No. 8 and No. 25, respectively.
Of course, those two big wins came over a month ago. Georgia has not exactly played a murderer’s row of opponents since then: Kent State, Missouri, Auburn, Vanderbilt. While the Kent State date was a tad concerning and the road trip to CoMO was certainly frightening, the Dawgs bounced back with blowout victories over Auburn and Vanderbilt. Of course, it is all about the Cocktail Party.
Georgia has a handful of challenging games left. Although Florida is not the least bit good, this is a massive rivalry game where anything can happen. Next week is even more challenging with No. 3 Tennessee coming to town. After that, UGA has back-to-back road games at Mississippi State and at Kentucky before hosting Georgia Tech with potentially a perfect regular-season on the line then.
If Georgia gets to Atlanta undefeated, the Dawgs are making the playoff, no matter what happens.
