1. Atlanta Falcons

Give credit where it’s due. If anything this season, the Atlanta Falcons have emerged as one of the more physical football teams in the league. A year ago in Arthur Smith’s first season as an NFL head coach, the club managed a 7-10 record and finished third place in the NFC North. But far too often the club was embarrassed on the scoreboard. Only two teams in the league gave up more points (459) than Smith’s club in 2021.

This season, the Falcons currently rank dead last in the NFL in yards allowed through the air. And some of those issues stem from the fact that the franchise has been searching for a consistent pass rush for more than a decade.

Just go back to this past season and the club came up with just 18 sacks in 17 regular-season contests. All told, those are fewer quarterback traps than both Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt (22.5) and Robert Quinn (18.5) came up with in 2021.

Next. Each NFL team’s all-time greatest moment. dark

In their seven games this season, the Falcons have totaled only 11 sacks. In two of those games, the team was held without a sack in each game, and in two other contests, there was only a single quarterback trap. Quinn would fill a major need for Dean Pees’ defensive unit. And the team is right in the thick of the NFC South title chase.
