San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. had quite an interesting 2022 season, unable to play a single game for multiple different reasons.

Many patiently awaited the return of San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. when it was announced he’d miss a good chunk of the season due to a wrist fracture.

Was pushed back further when he was suspended for 80 games for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Padres general manager A.J. Preller has the bar set low for Tatis now, just hoping to see him “on the field for 145 games” next season.

The Padres need Fernando Tatis Jr. on the field

Of course, that’s where most would’ve liked to see him sooner rather than later. It was unfortunate that he missed an entire season from some stuff he could’ve prevented, but he’ll hopefully learn from his mistakes and come back strong.

Tatis has been one of the best players in San Diego since joining the team. He made his MLB debut in 2019 with the Friars and over his three seasons played, he slashed an average of .292/.369/.596 for an OPS of .965. He was one of the min sluggers in the lineup, so it was certainly disappointing for fans when he had to sit out this season.
