Week 9 of the 2022 college football season has arrived, and there are set to be some huge rivalry games. In terms of the Big Ten, besides the Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Penn State Nittany Lions rivalry, is the battle between the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans for the Paul Bunyan Trophy.
The Wolverines are the fourth-ranked team in the entire nation, and are looking to maintain their position for a College Football Playoff berth. The Spartans, on the other hand, are looking to play spoiler.

The Wolverines largest margin of victory took place by in 1902, where they defeated the Spartans by the absurd score of 119-0. Yeah, we’re not kidding. That was legitimately the score.
As for the 1902 season, that Wolverines team was ridiculously dominant. They actually outscored their opponents 644-12! Again, not joking! Under head coach Fielding Yost, the Wolverines went 11-0 and were recognized as national champions.
When it comes to the head-to-head meetings, the Wolverines have dominated, winning 71-of-114 meetings. The Spartans won 38 games. Both teams played to a tie five times.
Last year (2021), the Spartans defeated the Wolverines 37-33.
