Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke

Van Dyke was the ACC Rookie of the Year in 2021 after taking over for the injured D’Eriq King. He looked strong in nine starts, throwing 25 touchdowns with six interceptions while racking up 2,931 yards.

The 2022 season was his opportunity to vault up in the 2023 NFL Draft conversation. Mel Kiper even had him as his No. 3 QB in the preseason. That ranking was obviously in hope that he’d continue to rise on the trajectory of his debut season. He simply hasn’t done that.

Van Dyke had a sub-100 passer rating in losses to Texas A&M and Middle Tennessee State. He was even benched in that latter outing in favor of backup Jake Garcia. He hasn’t taken the step forward he needed to this season and now he’s dealing with an injury that kept him out against Virginia.

It’s pretty clear that Van Dyke shouldn’t enter the draft pool at all. He could use another season to develop and set himself up as an option for 2024.
