Speaking of interesting evenings in the field, Hoskins was also in the middle of a couple of key plays on Thursday.

First, Hoskins was part of a seventh-inning rundown between home and third where Yuli Gurriel was eventually tagged out by Hoskins just before colliding with him. Gurriel was a little slow to get up after the contact as a knee from Hoskins caught him in the head.

Second, with one out in the top of the eighth and Jose Altuve at third base, Houston’s Yordan Alvarez hit a grounder to first that, if fielded cleanly, might have had a chance to turn into an out at home plate as Altuve was breaking for home on contact. However, Hoskins briefly bobbled the ball, giving Altuve enough time to score and making sure that Jeremy Peña (who was on first) made it to second without any worry of a double play.

At the plate, Hoskins was 0-for-5 with four strikeouts (including a whiff leading off the ninth inning) while leaving three runners on base.
