Corey Knebel will head to the Texas Rangers

Corey Knebel had been the Phillies’ closer until his injury in August.

Knebel enters the offseason on the 60-day injured list after suffering a right lat strain. He completely missed the Phillies’ epic run through the playoffs. He pitched 46 games during the Phillies ’22 season, going 3-5 in 44.2 innings. He had two holds and 12 saves in 16 opportunities.

It will be interesting to see how Knebel uses the offseason to recover and how this will impact his free agency.

Knebel will likely get picked up by the Texas Rangers in late Spring Training if he has a good offseason of healing and recovery. The Rangers could use the veteran arm in their bullpen. Bruce Bochy will want all the veteran help he can get during his first season back in the Majors as the Rangers manager. It should be fun to watch what happens.
