Heisman Trophy Power Rankings: Hendon Hooker’s clunker leaves race wide-open
By Scott Rogust
Welcome to the Heisman power rankings, Jaylen Daniels. It is about time that we recognize how well the former Arizona State transfer has played as of late. He played a huge role in handing Ole Miss their first loss of the season back in Week 8. This Saturday, Daniels helped essentially eliminate the Alabama Crimson Tide from College Football Playoff contention.
Facing off against Alabama, Daniels stepped up in the second half. He gave the team a go-ahead 24-21 lead with less than two minutes remaining in regulation on a seven-yard touchdown pass to Mason Taylor. Then, with the team trailing 31-24 in overtime, Daniels ran for a 25-yard touchdown and connected with Taylor again on the two-point conversion to get the win.
Daniels completed 22-of-32 pass attempts for 182 yards and two touchdowns while running for 95 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.
If Daniels keeps this up, he can help the Tigers get into a Playoff spot.
TCU’s Max Duggan drops a spot, mostly due to the play of a quarterback in the Pac-12. But, he has once again kept the Horned Frogs undefeated on the year to keep their Playoff hopes alive.
The Horned Frogs trailed the Texas Tech Red Raiders 17-13 entering the third quarter, but they responded in the fourth by scoring three touchdowns, two of which coming from the arm of Duggan. The senior connected with Derius Davis for a 23-yard touchdown and Emari Demercado on a 16-yard score, bringing them to a 34-17 lead.
Duggan threw 12 completions for 195 yards and two touchdowns on 23 attempts.
Now, Duggan has thrown for 2,407 yards, 24 touchdowns, and two interceptions while completing 66.0-percent of his passes.
