Bryce Young was so close to keeping Alabama’s College Football Playoff hopes alive. However, they could not stop the confident LSU Tigers in overtime, losing 32-31.

The start of Young’s game against LSU was not great, but late in the second quarter, he was in his bag. That was evident when he escaped numerous defenders as his pocket collapsed, cut to the outside, and connected with Ja’Corey Brooks for a 41-yard touchdown to give Alabama a 21-17 lead. He then led the Crimson Tide into field goal range in the closing seconds to force overtime.

Young’s completion percentage wasn’t great, as he completed 25-of-51 pass attempts. Yet, he did throw for 328 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Putting the stats aside, Young nearly helped lead Alabama to a victory over LSU. That is something that can’t be denied.

3. player. 811. . . Previous: . Blake Corum

Blake Corum remains in the third spot on the Heisman power rankings, due in part to another solid game against a Big Ten rival.

The Michigan Wolverines were actually on upset alert heading into halftime, as they trailed 17-14 to the Rutger Scarlet Knights. In that first half, Corum put the Wolverines on the board first with a one-yard touchdown run. But in the second half, the Wolverines responded with 38 unanswered points. Corum contributed to their second-half explosion with a two-yard touchdown run.

On Saturday night in Piscataway, NJ, Corum ran for 109 yards on 20 carries (5.5 yards per carry). Now, Corum has 1,187 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on 199 carries to his credit so far this season.

Corum is a big contributor in Michigan’s success, as he has scored at least one touchdown in all of their games this season.
