Back-to-back Big Ten East blowout losses would look really bad for Tom Allen

With every passing game, the 2020 COVID season is looking more and more like the anomaly for Tom Allen and the Indiana Hoosiers. Michael Penix Jr. ain’t walking through that door, as there is a very strong possibly the Hoosiers lose out to be 3-9 (1-8). They will be at No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday for Big Noon Kickoff, so that is about to be another bad blowout loss in the Big Ten East.

Even if they have a puncher’s chance to beat Michigan State in East Lansing, it is a rivalry game for both programs and Mel Tucker’s team could achieve bowl eligibility with a win there if they beat Rutgers at home on Saturday. After that, Indiana has a shot vs. Purdue, but the Boilermakers are the better run program in The Hoosier State. 3-9 might be all she wrote for Allen in Bloomington.

Indiana is a team needing the Big Ten to go divisionless stat, but Allen may not be around by then.

It really might be time for Boston College to part ways with struggling Jeff Hafley

We need to prepare ourselves to live in a world where Boston College finishes the season 2-10 overall and 1-7 in conference play. The Eagles have had a season from hell under Jeff Hafley. Despite having an NFL prospect at quarterback in Phil Jurkovec, Boston College has massively underachieved. This was a team that could have been 8-4 or so and pushed for a top 25 ranking.

For now, we have to wonder if this will be the last season Hafley coaches in Chestnut Hill. Given that they lost to ACC Coastal cellar dweller Virginia Tech, that defeat looks worse by the day. With road games coming up at North Carolina State and at Notre Dame, as well as a season-ender at home vs. a quality Syracuse program, where is there a win to be had for Hafley’s flightless Eagles?

At this time, there is a very strong possibility that Boston College moves on from Hafley here soon.
