Projected College Football Playoff rankings after Week 11: No. 2-1

2. Ohio State Buckeyes

With the ugly game in awful weather that Ohio State endured last week, it was refreshing to see the Buckeyes look more like a legitimate Playoff contender as they took on lowly Indiana at The Shoe. It was a big offensive day for everyone in the offense as CJ Stroud highlighted the day with five touchdown tosses. Moreover, the defense showed up again, allowing only seven points before garbage time.

That’s what Ohio State is supposed to do, though. This is supposed to be a title contender, so the team should be dominating vastly inferior competition. Moreover, with the Buckeyes losing Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson already missing time too, that makes the offense one-dimensional. Still don’t count OSU out, but I remain dubious that they can A. beat Michigan and B. be a serious title contender.

1. Georgia Bulldogs

If this is what a hangover game looks like for the defending national champions, then Saturday night in Starkville was only further proof that Georgia is far and away the best team in college football.

Stetson Bennett IV had moments when he was throwing like it was the Good Morning America interview the morning after winning the natty. But on the whole, the talent of Georgia just overwhelmed Mississippi State, particularly in the second half as the Dawgs pulled away big time for the 45-19 win.

Not that it was in much doubt, but Georgia clinched the SEC East on Saturday night and now faces Kentucky and Georgia Tech to finish the year. But as things stand, the Dawgs have their focus on the game in Atlanta the week after the rivalry matchup and then the two games thereafter to try and go back-to-back.
