For the first time since 2001, the Michigan Wolverines went into Columbus and silenced THE Ohio State Buckeyes. The college football world had a lot to say.

Why is it so quiet in Columbus right now? Probably because Ohio State saw Michigan come into town and do something that hasn’t happened in over two decades.

Though the Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes for the second straight season, it was the first time since Drew Henson and David Terrell ran the show that the Maize and Blue marched into Columbus and took out the Scarlet and Grey.

This time it was JJ McCarthy and Donovan Edwards who took their place among the Wolverine greats to accomplish such a feat with a 45-23 victory. As you can imagine, Twitter had a lot to say about the result, especially the alums of UM.

College football world buzzing over Michigan dominating Ohio State for second straight year

What’s comical is how Albert Breer feels about the situation. Dorks? That’s strong, considering at one point in time, the Buckeyes were running the show in the rivalry, and now the script has been flipped, and all of a sudden, the grass isn’t as green as hoped.

On the flip side, Michigan should feel more relief than anything. Not only have they beaten their rival twice in a row, but both times, they did it with more physicality, and this time, the weather was clear as day. The Wolverines simply executed better, and ultimately, their talent showed. Also, they won in Columbus, which is hard enough to do when you aren’t a Maize and Blue alum.

No doubt Edwards and McCarthy are going to be the talk of Ann Arbor after this week, but they can’t back down now. They know that the College Football Playoff is on the line, and with teams outside the top 4 lurking like Alabama, whom some are hoping to see somehow get in even without playing in a conference title, it’s going to take a massive effort in the Big Ten title game to secure their spot. For now, though, they can celebrate this win like there’s no tomorrow.
