Sam Darnold became the Panthers’ third different starting quarterback this season as the club hosted the Broncos. He was solid as the Carolina offensive front dominated the game.
Steve Wilks’ team ran for 185 yards (113 yards by D’Onta Foreman) and Darnold was not sacked. He would throw for 164 yards and one touchdown and ran two yards for a score. Carolina’s defense allowed just 246 total yards and sacked Russell Wilson three times.
The Browns hosted the Buccaneers for the first time since 2014, and Kevin Stefanski’s club was in danger of losing a third straight game as it trailed Tampa Bay, 17-10, in the fourth quarter. Jacoby Brissett led a late drive and on fourth down, tight end David Njoku made a one-handed catch in the back of the end zone.
The game belonged to Cleveland’s ground game and Nick Chubb, who ran for 116 yards and the game-winning touchdown in overtime.
The Jaguars hosted the AFC North-leading Ravens in a game that was delayed by lightning. The teams combined for 33 points in the fourth quarter – 18 by Jacksonville. Down 27-20 with 2:02 to play,
Trevor Lawrence led the team on a 10-play, 75-yard TD drive, which culminated with a 10-yard touchdown toss to Marvin Jones. Trailing by one point, Doug Pederson opted for the two-point conversion and Lawrence found Zay Jones for the go-ahead score.
