5-7. Previous: . Atlanta Falcons. 18. team. 44.

The Falcons made their way north to face the Commanders with a chance to get to the .500 mark. Marcus Mariota led a balanced offense that gained 332 yards but reached the end zone just once. Down by six points in the closing minutes, Arthur Smith’s club had a chance to steal a victory.

But a Mariota pass was deflected at the line and Washington cornerback Kendall Fuller picked off the ball in the end zone. The Falcons dropped to 1-5 on the road.

Los Angeles Chargers. 17. team. 13. . 6-5. Previous:

The Bolts were in the desert to battle the Cardinals. Brandon Staley’s club fell behind, 10-0, in the second quarter. And the Chargers trailed 24-17 early in the fourth quarter.

Justin Herbert overcame four sacks and finished with 274 yards passing and three scores – the third to Austin Ekeler with 15 seconds to play. Down 24-23, Staley opted to go for the lead instead of the tie. And Herbert’s found tight end Gerald Everett for the two-point conversion.

5-6. Previous: . Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 16. team. 48.

The Buccaneers were coming off their midseason vacation and took on the Browns at Cleveland. Tom Brady wound up throwing for 246 yards and two scores, and Todd Bowles’ club owned a 17-10 lead entering the fourth quarter.

But it was Tampa’s run defense that proved to be the club’s undoing. Bowles’ defense gave up 189 yards on the ground, including Nick Chubb’s three-year TD run in overtime. The Buccaneers are 0-4 vs. AFC teams this season.
