MLB Winter Meetings: Carlos Rodon

Much like Cody Bellinger is looking to prove a point to MLB teams who are doubting his abilities, Carlos Rodon is coming off a season where he did just that. Now he’s looking to cash in on the successful season he had with the San Francisco Giants in 2022 (league-low 2.25 FIP and league-high 12.0 strikeouts per nine innings) after proving to plenty that he could indeed stay healthy and pitch at a high level.

While the soon-to-be 30-year-old Rodon is one of the most coveted pitchers available this offseason, he’s also a tier below fellow pitchers Justin Verlander and Jacob deGrom, who are expected to earn short-term but very high-priced deals. Rodon, meanwhile, is predicted by MLBTradeRumors.com to sign a five-year contract valued at $140 million. That is a much more manageable number for several teams who have been linked to Rodon, including the Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, and Texas Rangers. Additionally, the Giants are hoping for a reunion as well.

Rodon could well be one of the first pitching dominoes to fall this offseason, and that move could happen at the Winter Meetings as the southpaw is already drawing plenty of interest.
