4) MLB rumors: Carlos Correa saves the Giants after missing on Aaron Judge

Here’s a bonus prediction: Aaron Judge signs back with the New York Yankees. Where does this leave the other big suitor, the San Francisco Giants? They go out and upgrade the shortstop position by signing Carlos Correa.

The Giants want to spend money. Correa is going to get paid. Even with Brandon Crawford on the roster playing out his final days in San Francisco, the Giants will find a way to make it work. One of these two will play a different position for a season. We’re seeing this happen more and more with the Red Sox doing something similar last offseason when they signed Trevor Story with Xander Bogaerts already on the roster.

Correa is definitely someone the Cubs could be considering. But with the Giants missing out on Judge, the predictions should lead them toward Correa. They will need to do something major. Missing out on Judge and seeing Bogaerts sign with the Dodgers should push San Francisco into becoming a more aggressive ball club.

The Giants have looked like two very different ball clubs over the last two seasons. They overachieved in 2021. Last season was an underachievement although one could say they finished with a more appropriate record.

Correa closes out the major MLB rumors involving shortstops with a big contract putting him in the Giants infield. Of course, it includes an opt out. All of the best contracts need one of those these days.
