2. player. 812. . . . C.J. Stroud

For the majority of the season, C.J. Stroud was the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. He was putting up video game numbers on a weekly basis, showing off his incredible throwing power and accuracy.

But he did have some clunkers. There was his 76 passing yard performance (10-of-26 on pass attempts) against Northwestern. Then there was his most recent showing, where he failed to defeat Michigan for the second year in a row.

Unfortunately for Stroud, there was another quarterback who was red hot late this season. Even so, he had a very good season.

Stroud threw for 3,340 yards (15th most among quarterbacks) and 37 touchdowns (tied-first), while completing 66.2-percent of his passes (25th).

. . . Caleb Williams. 1. player. 808

Caleb Williams is the favorite to hoist the Heisman trophy in New York City. After impressing last season at Oklahoma when taking over for Spencer Rattler as starter, Williams transferred over to USC alongside head coach Lincoln Riley. The rest was history.

Williams showed off his playmaking ability with his arm and legs throughout the season. He helped lead the team into potential College Football Playoff contention heading into Conference Championship weekend. Not only that, but he showed that he’s going to be the favorite to be selected first-overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, the very first year he’ll be eligible.

In his first season as Trojans quarterback, Williams recorded 4,075 passing yards (fourth), 37 touchdowns, and a 66.1 completion percentage (27th). Williams also picked up 372 yards and 10 touchdowns on 109 carries.

This was trending towards being the most difficult year to pick a Heisman winner. But as the season neared its conclusion, it became more and more evident that Williams should be the player to be handed the coveted trophy.
